Problems after upgrading to 14.04 (only background and pointer after login) [duplicate]

Had the exact same problem after upgrading to VS15.3. After opening an existing 4.6 MVC Core project I got the error: “Duplicate 'Content' items were included. The .NET SDK includes 'Content' items from your project directory by default. You can either remove these items from your project file, or set the 'EnableDefaultContentItems' property to 'false' if you want to explicitly include them in your project file.” I chose to edit the .csproj file manually sinse I prefer my static content files to be included by default. I removed the ItemGroup from it containing static content files that were added previously as listed by the error. Everything works fine now with no compiler errors.

On a side note. On another project Bower failed. Started playing around and seems that there was a problem with the bower.json for some reason. I noticed that the normal dependencies like JQuery wasn’t there for some reason. I replaced it with a copy from my backup with the dependencies and format...

The first point release of 14.04 just came out a few days ago and many LTS users waited for this to upgrade from 12.04 – in fact do-release-upgrade only offers the LTS to LTS upgrade after the first point release for stability reasons. So we thought this would be the perfect time to do a quick writeup of a few things to do after upgrading your system. User configuration isn’t updated and installed applications aren’t removed when upgrading and that’s a good thing: Upgraders will not have to restore their customizations and their system will mostly look as before.
However, for those of you who want to get closer to the default setup of Xubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, here go five easy steps you can quickly follow to that end.

Light Locker has replaced XScreenSaver. Light Locker uses LightDM to lock the screen, merging the functionality of the login screen and the lock screen. Having both applications installed at the same time may produce bugs or regressions, so it is...

Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched but didn't find it.

I upgraded to IPS 4.1.19 nulled from this site.

I'm doing this on a duplicate of my forum and not the live version. Different folder and database.

Before upgrading i changed my config file and the upload folder path. All that stuff...

The problem is this: the CSS and javascript files for both the admin panel and the forum do not work, it is all plain text, for some reason they're pointing to the OLD upload folder url from the live website which obviously doesn't include the iPS4 files it is looking for since the live version is still using IPB3.

I tried the Support -> Something isn't working to re-cache all data, but it didn't do anything.

I managed to fix the CSS by turn the Designer Mode on and off - this was complicated to do because I couldn't find where to do this since everything was plain text, so with Chrome's Inspect I edited the css paths manually on the...

I got disk problems after upgrading from 10.10 to 10.11 GM (15A282b) on my iMac (27-inch, mid-2011).

It started with the next problem;

After upgrading, the window of signing in to iCloud appeared and I typed my mail and password.

After clicking next, I came to the next window, still titled 'Sign in to iCloud', with an activity indicator in the middle, having the buttons 'Next' and 'Back'. The Next-button was enabled and the Back-button was disabled. I waited 5 minutes and nothing happened. I tried tapping on the Next-button but it didn't do anything so I was stuck. I tried to putting my iMac to sleep by short-tapping the power button and start it again, my iMac gone to sleep but when I woke it, it was on the same window. After that I tried locking the iMac with Command + Option + Eject. It locked but when I unlocked it, it was still on the same window.

So I hard restarted my iMac by long-tapping the power button and I started my iMac...

It wasn't trendy, funny, nor was it coined on Twitter, but we thought change told a real story about how our users defined 2010. Unlike in 2008, change was no longer a campaign slogan. But, the term still held a lot of weight. Here's an excerpt from our Word of the Year announcement in 2010:

The national debate can arguably be summarized by the question: In the past two years, has there been enough change? Has there been too much? Meanwhile, many Americans continue to face change in their homes, bank accounts and jobs. Only time will tell if the latest wave of change Americans voted for in the midterm elections will result in a negative or positive...
