Do you want to know how your own books, both in ePub and Mobi look on a reader?

If this is your question, and you want to know it 'while writing', and not only after publishing, I think there are several possibilities, without having the hassle of DRM-removing.

Most devices do indeed only read either DRM-Mobi (Kindle-format) or ePub with Adobe-DRM, but there are several devices that can read (all) ePubs and DRM-less Mobi.
So you can write your book e.g. as an ePub (Sigil), and convert it in a few clicks to Mobi, and, since it's your own DRM-less copy, you can read both on several readers (My BeBook reads ePub and Mobi).

I found this list of ereaders that read both ePub and Mobi, don't know if this is still up-to-date, but there must be quite some different readers that read both.

•BeBook: ePub,PDF,mobi,txt,prc,lit,fb2,doc,html, rtf,djvu,wol,ppt,mbp,chm,...

Installer, prerequisites, and interface

Setting up this tool takes minimal time and effort, since there are no unfamiliar options or third-party offers involved. Just keep in mind that you must have .NET Framework installed, since it was developed with the aid of this platform. Otherwise, it won't work properly.

The Kindle Reader is the only ebook reader that lets you read DRM-protected books on a windows phone. But the Kindle reader will not work for mobipocket books that are in your private collection. The Kindle reader for windows phone 7 can only download books that are on your Amazon.com bookshelf. There's no way to move your mobipocket books to the Amazon.com bookshelf, so you can't get the books to a place on your phone that the Kindle application recognizes.

There are other ebook reader applications in the Marketplace that let you store books on a personal Dropbox page and then the books can be downloaded to the windows phone (so you'd upload the books to your Dropbox page from your computer). You might want to check out the Freda application, which can be used to read DRM-free ePub, HTML and TXT formatted books.

The Amazon Kindle app is definitely one of the best e-book readers for Android. Not only does it flaunt a lot of good features, it also allows you to read documents and e-books that you’ve downloaded outside of Amazon.

Speaking of which, the Kindle app supports various types of file and documents. Therefore, it is not only limited to AZW (.azw) files. You can also use it to view PDF (.pdf) and MOBI (.mobi) files.

To view a PDF on Kindle for Android, you simply open the file directly from your file or document manager. By default, the “Complete action using” dialog box will appear and you can choose the application that you want for viewing your PDF document.

Now, with MOBI files, it’s a bit different. Usually, you will get an error message if ever you directly open or view the file from your file manager. If, in case, this happens, you can follow the steps listed below.

HTML5 saw the introduction of a number of new APIs that can be used to handle files in the browser. These APIs make it much easier to accomplish tasks like reading and writing files or uploading a file created using JavaScript.

In this blog post you are going to learn how to use the FileReader API to read the contents of a file from your local hard drive. You will be creating two demo applications. The first application will handle reading and then displaying the contents of a text file. The second will read an image file and then generate a data URL that will be used to display the image on the page.

Let’s get going!

Can I upload live recordings that were broadcast on XM Radio or Sirius Satellite Radio?

At this point in time, Archive.org cannot host recordings that were broadcast over either of these services. Subscribers have informed us that they were required to sign a "Terms of Use" document that forbids the recording/hosting/rebroadcasting of any material received from these services. Until we hear otherwise, these recordings cannot be hosted here.

A recording I uploaded and marked 'no lossy formats' had them created (mp3, ogg, m3u, etc...) . How can I remove them?

If you come across this situation and you are the uploader, click [edit], select the derivation option you prefer, and then 'Update'. You should see the message "Format Options Updated Successfully". Within 10 minutes the system will create a "_rules.conf" file in the recording's folder. Then, the next time the system performs an automatic sweep...

Leo, I bought one of your books and I see that I can download the book in .mobi format from you. You say that’s the Kindle native format, which is great since I have both a Kindle reader and a Kindle reading application on my smartphone. Only one question: after I download it how do I get the book from my computer to my Kindle?

Turns out there are at least two different ways to get that book onto your Kindle.

And then of course you can also read the book without a Kindle device at all.

Email it to your Kindle

Not everyone realizes it, but every Kindle activated with an Amazon account is assigned a unique email address. You can simply email the “.mobi” file as an attachment to the email address associated with your Kindle.

To find the email address of your Kindle, login to your Amazon account and visit the Manage Your Content & Devices (http://www.amazon.com/manageyourkindle) page:

It defaults to showing you “Your Content,” the...

There are three kinds of Windows Phone owner. The hard-core enthusiasts who will have been putting on every Insiders build of Windows 10 Mobile and they know all the tricks of the trade. Normal users who just want a phone that works and who will wait, blissfully ignorant of anything new on the horizon, until they're promoted with an official notice. And everyone in the middle, who quite fancies installing Windows 10 Mobile to see what all the fuss is about and to skip a probable four month wait for the finished article, but is scared stiff of what's involved. This article is for the third group and is intended to be the definitive guide!

Addressing your fears... and hopes

You're absolutely right to be apprehensive about heading down the Insiders Preview path rather than waiting for an official update to appear on your Windows Phone 8.1 device sometime in November or December 2015. Not that all of the possible pitfalls will be avoided by waiting, but at least you'll...
