libudev0 error in Ubuntu 13.04

Having trouble installing Google Chrome in Ubuntu 13.04? You’re not alone.

A dependency change in Ubuntu means that the libudev0 package Google Chrome needs to run isn’t currently available from Ubuntu’s repositories.

The good news is that Google are working to fix this issue, and the next stable release will install just dandy.

But if you want to install Chrome right now you’ll need to fix the issue by hand. Install one of the following packages first, choosing the right one for your architecture (you can find this out from System Settings > Details):

As .Deb files these are easy to install: simply double-click on them and follow the prompts that appear on screen.

Once you’ve install libudev0 you can proceed to download and install Google Chrome itself.

End result:

Google Chrome is a free web browser based on WebKit layout rendering engine. Since its public release in 2008, Google Chrome has steadily grown its user base, and now it drives approximately one-third of all web browsing activities worldwide, largely thanks to its lightning fast speed and strong security protection. If you would like to install Google Chrome on Linux, you can follow these instructions below.

Install Google Chrome on CentOS, Fedora or RHEL

First you need to add the official yum repository for Google Chrome:

$ sudo vi /etc/yum.repos.d/google.repo

[google-chrome] name=google-chrome baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/i386 enabled=1 gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub

Note that the yum repository configuration in the above is for 32-bit systems. If you are running a 64-bit Linux system, replace the url in "baseurl" field with the following.

The commercial Chromebooks are almost here, but if you want to try Chrome OS sooner than that you can do it. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as you might think. Here's how to do it.

First, if you just try looking for "Chrome OS download" on Google, ironically, you're going to have trouble finding it. Instead, you're most likely to find links that will eventually take you to Chrome OS Linux. This is not Google's Chrome OS. It's a Linux distribution that uses Chrome OS. It may be fine. I don't know. I haven't tried it, but it's not the Chrome OS that you're looking for.

The real Chrome OS, which is indeed based on Linux flavored by Ubuntu, is available as source code, along with build instructions, at the Chromium OS Developer Guide. If you're not an experienced programmer with access to a 64-bit Linux system, Ubuntu 10.04 Long Term Support (LTS) version for choice, you don't want to go this route though.

For people who don't program in C for a living, the smart...

It’s the year 2016. Google Chrome is the most popular browser now, but it’s not the best. In fact, recently, Opera is making a case for you to switch to it. There’s one small problem though: extensions. But what if you could install Chrome extensions in Opera? It’s pretty easy, so here’s a quick guide.

Why Install Chrome Extensions in Opera?

There are plenty of reasons you should ditch Chrome. All the browsers are generally fast Browser Wars: Firefox vs. Chrome vs. Opera, The Definitive Benchmark , other browsers like Firefox will support Chrome extensions soon Running Chrome Extensions in Firefox: What You Need to Know , and there are new browsers on the horizon like Vivaldi for power users Meet Vivaldi: The Power User's New Favorite Browser .

Normally Google Chrome cannot be installed on different drive or directory as it installs itself on a default location, no matter you downloaded a web installer or full standalone installer! But it may happen that you need to install Chrome on a different location on different drive. In that case, you need to alter the directory of the installation. Though the official Chrome installer program never comes with this functionality, you can do this by using a “Symbolic linker”. Symbolic Linker will assign symbolic link between two file or folder locations. For symbolic linking, Chrome will think it is installing on its default directory, while installing on your custom directory!

Step by Step on Installing Chrome on Different Directory

Step 1: If you already have Google Chrome installed on PC, uninstall it.
Step 2: Create a folder named Chrome on the location you want to install Google Chrome. I created it in E: drive!
Step 3: Download Symlink...

Installing Google Chrome themes is very easy, in fact it doesn’t require a tutorial to install them. However, I noticed that older versions of Google Chrome make installing themes a bit more complicated, so I’d thought I’d post a short guide with some details.

Installing Themes In Chrome Doesn’t Work?

The latest Google Chrome 8 supports .crx files. CRX files can be dropped into Google Chrome and will be automatically installed. If it doesn’t install your themes automatically, that’s a first sign that there is something wrong. So, first rule, make sure that the Google Chrome theme that you want to install is a .crx file. How to do that? Open firefox, download the Google Chrome theme and verify that the file extension is .crx. If it’s not the theme might be for an older version of Google Chrome. Some themes even include a .dll file, which *was* stored in the Google Application folder.

Short:
# Update Google Chrome
# Make sure theme file is...

The following guide walks you through the steps of installing Google Chrome extensions in Firefox.

Mozilla is currently working on implementing WebExtensions support in the Firefox web browser which will make the browser compatible with many of the extensions offered for Google Chrome and Chrome compatible browsers.

The organization plans to release an initial stable version of WebExtensions in Firefox 48 Stable which will be released on on August 2, 2016 if things go as planned.

While that particular release won't have feature parity with Google Chrome, it marks the first big step in reaching that goal.

One of the main benefits of adding WebExtensions support is that Firefox users will be able to install the majority of extensions for Google Chrome.

This guide shows you how.
